Limited Edition: # 00 11/11 00. PELIKAN ORIGINALS OF THEIR TIME FOUNTAIN PENS SERIES. There have always been certain things whose beauty doesnt fade but endures even after decades. In fact, these special things become more and more fascinating in the course of time. This is especially true of fountain pens. They carry a certain value that you notice whenever you hold such an unusual writing instrument in your hand.

Reviving such moments was Pelikans aim in creating a distinctive fountain pens series: Originals of Their Timme (aka OoTT). In 1929, the first Pelikan fountain pen was produced. With its piston refilling technique patented in 1927, already the nit attracted much attention. The Pelikan Gold came out in 1931 took the fountain pen beyond the dimension of a utility item to that of a gem of a rare type. In 1935, Pelikan introduced onto the market the first fountain pens with cap designs matching the bands.

The first of the Originals of their Time to appear was the OoTT 1931, then known under the name Pelikan Gold, which was reedited in 1997 with an 18 carat gold barrel and great love to details. The next to appear (year 1998) was the OoTT 1935 Jade Green with its very typical marble design. The next to follow (year 2000) was the OoTT 1931 white gold plated with a very rare gold alloy. Then the spectacular Lapis Blue 1935 (year 2001) and dulcis in fundo the OoTT 1931 Toledo (year 2003). Masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship from Celluloid.

These pens were either black or green. In January, 1931, the "Pelikan Gold" was introduced. Enhancing its craftsmanship and technology, Pelikan pens were transformed into pieces of fine jewelry. Gladly, Pelikan celebrates the golden years by reissuing the 1931. Faithful in detail, with the exception of certain modern materials, it is an exact replica of its famous predecessor.

Clip and trim are layered in 18K gold. Production is limited to 5000 worldwide, making this a collectors item. The pen comes in mint condition. It comes together with all original boxes and papers, i. White outer box, display box, booklet, certificate, personal service card.

As was done in the vintage original in 1935, in this reissue the barrel and the cap of the "1935" are made of blue celluloid, a traditional and expensive material used for the production of fountain pens during this era. Its complicated production and extended and complex workmanship make celluloid a refined material in the manufacture of fountain pens.

Its typical marbring effect comes about through the amount of color added during production. And no marbling is like any other. Sometimes the variation is bigger, sometimes smaller. The typical, marble effect is achieved by adding to the blue amount of white color, which gives each pen an individual and unique look. So no two pens will ever be exactly alike.

Made distinctive by high-quality original materials and the finest detailing. Over four centuries, from 712 to 1085, the Arabians ruled over Toledo. Under their rule, Toledo flourished in art and science, in the silk and cotton industry as well as in its fabrication of arms.

Toledos damascene blades and inlays made by the gold and silversmiths of the city went by the name Toledo and carried its unique tecnique into the world. In 1085 Alfons VI of Castilia conquered the city and appointed Toledo as his royal residence in 1087. In memory of this very historical 11th century, Pelikan decided to restrict the LE Toledo 1931 to 1100 pieces worldwide.

The original Toledo, dating back to 1931, was a true rarity even in its own time and already then iit was simply outstanding. With its elaborate processing and its extraordinary look, it soon became the center-piece of many valuable collections. The 2003 limited-edition renaissance is no different. The eye-catcher on this etraordinary fountain peni s a valuable Toledo barrel made in Toledo, Spain in the exquisite tradition of Damascene art.

In meticolous hand-work, ornaments of gold are laid into the basic iron material. In twelve steps, the wafer-thin golden patterns are processed and carefully embossed into the iron with the finest special tools. Made exclusive by an 18-carat, individually hand-tested gold nib.

Most of all it is distinguished by its ring which is hand-made in Toledo the city that gave this jewel its name. Further typical characteristics are the body of black ebonite as well as the cap sleeve and cap top made of celluloid. The cap top is decorated with the engraved historical Pelikan logo of 1931. The Toledo 1931 can be considered at once a writing instrument and a work of art.
